Meeting Minutes
September 12, 2012 @ 6:30pm
Attendance (14): Day, Forrester, Polega, Silich, Tremberth, LaFaire, Urban, Van Houzen, Thieme, DuChene, Walinske, Leonetti, Luciw, Lepine
1. Welcome, Introductions, and Norms: Susan S.
· Begin meeting on time.
· Turn off cell phones.
· Be respectful.
· One person speaks at a time.
· Stay on topic.
· Stick to the agenda.
· Motions will be made and seconded.
· Majority vote passes motion.
2. Mission Statement: Susan S.
· The Parent Teacher Club’s agenda is to lend support, both moral and financial, to cooperate with teachers, the administration and community to promote positive attitudes towards learning and education.
3. Secretary Minutes: Jenica T.
· PTC Board reviewed minutes from the August 27th PTC Board meeting before general
meeting. 1st Dace and 2nd Tammy. Motion passed unanimously. Stated to grop that
minutes will be posted on website.
4. Treasury Report: Dace D.
· Motion to accept budget as presented: 1st K. DuChene and 2nd K. Walinske. Motion passed unanimously.
5. Principal Report: Ms. Polega
· Enrollment at Lobbestael is up. Currently K-2nd is full and only a few openings remain
from 3-5Th.
· The district has a new website and Lobbestael has its own page with calendar.
· The Back To School BBQ will be hosted by Lobbestael staff and community service kids.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Polega.
· Wednesdays are early release days for students, but staff meets at 7:15am for professional development activities. The school improvement goals can be reviewed on website.
· The Parent Advisory Committee is looking for a Lobbestael representative.
The first meeting is October 3rd and also meets again in the spring. Kelli Walinske
volunteered.
6. Old Business
Fun Run (Friday, 10.5.12): Dace D.
· Volunteer sign-up sheet coming soon.
· The save-the-date magnets are in.
· Flyers for the event were shared at the meeting and feedback was provided.
Changes will be made.
· The list of raffles prizes was shared. PTC is looking for help and/or connections in finalizing these.
· PTC is looking for someone to wear the Lobster costume at the Fun Run.
Lobbestael Website / PTC Blog
· PTC to work with Ms. Polega in getting the blog and website linked.
New Kids Club
· Ms. Polegas and the school’s social worker welcome and meet with the new students and families in grades 1-5.
· PTC will help welcome the families with hand written notes.
· PTC will donate past Fun Run prizes for use with this club.
Popcorn
· Motion to donate popcorn to all students on Friday, Oct. 5th in conjunction with the
Fun Run snack. 1st by Lisa L. and 2nd by Dace D. Motion passed unanimously.
· Popcorn will be handed out at the recess just before lunch. Kids to eat the popcorn outside.
· A smaller portion will be served since it is close to lunch on Spirit Days, cost $.25
Box Tops
· Tammy F. will distribute collection sheet tomorrow.
· Plan to mail postmarked before November 1st in order to receive a December check.
7. New Business
Fall Festival (11.02.12)
· To be Chaired by Kristen W. and Kelli W.
· Ann U. will run and supply a cookie and cupcake decorating table again this year.
· Date is to be Friday November 2, 2012.
· It was discussed having an airbrush tattoo artist work the event – Chairs to follow up.
· Ms. Polegas will check with school district art departments to see if it would be possible
for students to vollunetter to help with tattoos/airbrushing.
Restaurant Night
· Lisa L., Louise L. & Ann U. to chair this event(s)
· McDonald’s, Stevie B’s, Coldstone and BW3’s were suggested venues.
· Dates are TBD.
